SPRING 2010 SARS Newsletter   Jim writes another technical masterpiece describing how to build a simple variable frequency AM transmitter.  If you're thinking about using an iPOD, CD player or any other music source to transmit sound around the house to your antique AM radios, be sure to read this article.  Unidentified Flying Objects or UFO has nothing to do with old radios!  True, but read all about BFO, or "beat frequency oscillator" if you like to listen to shortwave broadcasts.  Jim completes his third article on using hammer tone and wrinkle finish painting techniques to restore your old radios.

Finally, Paul writes a very touching article to pay tribute to our long-time friend, Marty Reynolds.  Marty is greatly missed but we all know he's now tinkering with the latest, super hi-tech gadgets in heaven.

WINTER 2009-2010 SARS Newsletter   Mark is back again as the SARS Newsletter Editor.  This time he's prepared two outstanding articles related to radio repair techniques.  First, find out how Mark saved a marriage by replacing grill cloth in a Philco radio eaten by a dog!  Not only that, his step-by-step instructions and photos make it look so easy you'll want to replace your torn and worn out grill cloth right away.  If that's not enough, find out how Mark saved a toasted Fairbanks Morse table set from the scrap heap.  Finally, you'll find the schedule of events for the February 20 Swap Meet along with a tentative list of 2010 SARS activities.

FALL 2009 SARS Newsletter    Marty, our club Newsletter Editor, discovers a great web site for Detrola radio lovers.  He then continues with a very informative review on the evolution of Automatic Volume Control.  There's also some great updates on SARS club business in case you haven't been able to attend the monthly meetings.

SPRING / SUMMER 2009 SARS Newsletter    Marty, our club Newsletter Editor, recaps the recent SARS events and then does a story on the "Radio Curse".   If you like suspense stories, be sure to read Marty's story of the mystery radio.  Your intrepid webmaster, Rich, makes a blockbuster confession and desperately seeks your help.  Lastly, Rich describes his experiences at the Richard Estes Auction in April in Ohio.  Be sure to see the Photo Gallery for snapshots of the big auction.

WINTER 2008-2009 SARS Newsletter    Marty, our club Newsletter Editor, kicks off with a view of upcoming activities and events.  Have you heard about the SARS five tube archeological project?  Leave it to our resident sleuth to figure it out!  Next, Marty dives into the Philco 116 series of radios built between 1936 and 1939 to learn just what makes those sets so special.  Lastly, be sure to see the SARS calendar of events and schedule for the February 21 Swap Meet in Roswell.
