Guest Speaker We are honored to have Mr. John Jenkins as our guest speaker who will discuss "Pre 1930 Radios and Communication".  Mr. Jenkins is the author of the new book, "Where Discovery Sparks Imagination: A Pictorial History of Radio and Electricity " and is co-founder of the American Museum of Radio and Electricity in Bellingham, Washington.  The website is www.sparkmuseum.com  and a video can be seen at www.amre.us.  Also, refer to this Antique Radio Classified article describing the museum at ARC Article.

John will sign copies of his latest book after his presentation.  Copies of "Where Discovery Sparks Imagination: A Pictorial History of Radio and Electricity " will be available for $34.95 and all profits will go to the 501-C3 non-profit American Museum of Radio and Electricity.

John Jenkins was born in Bellingham, Washington, and lived in the area until 1974, when he began his professional career as an engineer with Hewlett Packard Corporation.  John worked for Hewlett Packard for 12 years, where he held various technical and marketing positions at the company.  In 1986 he joined Microsoft Corporation and managed several organizations, most recently as General Manager of Worldwide OEM Sales and Marketing. John retired from Microsoft in February 2001 and now serves on several boards, including the American Museum of Radio and Electricity, where he is President & CEO. His interests include the history of science and technology, electronic and computer related technologies, and over 40 years as a collector of early radio and electrical scientific apparatus. John's personal collection includes many one of a kind items dating back to the 16th century (see www.sparkmuseum.com).

John is also a member of several professional associations including the Society for the History of Technology and the History of Science Society, and lectures and writes on technology related topics. He is the author of two books:  “Loud Talker – The Early History of Loudspeakers” and “Where Discovery Sparks Imagination – A Pictorial History of Radio and Electricity.” In August, 2009, John was presented with the prestigious “Houck Award for preservation” by the Antique Wireless Association.

In his free time, John can be found in the mountains of the Pacific Northwest, hiking with his dog Charlie.
